I read Christopher's first trilogy and enjoyed it, but I was afraid I wouldn't remember the characters from those books when some of them are reintroduced in this series. However, the author did a great job writing about them so that new readers who weren't already familiar with them would get to know them easily. This book has a definite spiritual theme that faith will triumph (maybe not immediately, but eventually) in everyone's lives. I enjoyed the biblical references.I also enjoyed the wonderful setting on the Maine coast where the main character often sat in her Adirondack chair, even in winter, overlooking the ocean and finding peace of mind and answers to her concerns as she prays. This book did make me hungry for homemade bakery items, as lots of scenes took place over tea and baked goods! I was glad I didn't live near a bakery, on the one hand, but I was tempted more than once to check out online bakeries for internet ordering! The characters were very likeable and some were endearing. The writing made me picture the entire book as a movie. I'm looking forward to book two.....I hope I don't have to wait too long!!Product details

Wonderful! The characters are people who have God in their daily life. The use of Scripture was placed in a natural place l like I do in my daily life. The suspense and action are surprises. Absolutely could not put it down !!
The author managed to keep the reader interested and entertained with the various subplots. There were twists and turns that had surprising ends.
What a fun and lovely diversion from the stresses of the day! I could see the coastline and the adirondack chairs on the wrap around porch.
The characters welcomed me in and I was hooked. Can't wait for book two.
I was totally wrapped up in this delightful story. It made me think about my life and how I need a Golden Bowl. You are introduced to Annie and Buck and follow them through this simple town. This story can truly inspire people to see the good in everything. Maeve is an amazing and inspiring person and writer. I will continue to look and recommend her books to my friends.
Having read Maeve Christopher's series in the past, I knew I was in for a wonderful story again this time around. Never one to miss a chance to partake of tea and pastries, I truly enjoyed those scenes in the book. The Maine coast was a perfect setting, and Christopher wove it into the book to perfection. Great character development and a good read that will touch a chord within every reader. Looking forward to the second book in this series. I highly recommend this novel as a must read. You won't be disappointed.

My love of the characters in the Redemption Series was reawakened as they introduced and interacted with the new characters in this story, the first in the Golden Bowl Series. Sweet, insightful, intuitive Debbie leads us to her sister, Annie, and a whole new world of adventure begins as the Golden Bowl Restaurant staff and patrons experience the power of answered prayer.
You will be captivated by their story and moved to have your own golden bowl. I have mine. Everyone should have a golden bowl at home and know this story.

Even though A Ring and a Prayer is not as fast paced as expected, the story line is excellent and the characters are very well developed. Readers were reacquainted with their favorite characters from the Redemption Series and met some new and interesting ones. But despite that linkage, the Golden Bowl Series offers a completely new perspective. Whilst the Redemption Series tells the stories from the perspective of billionaires, secret agents, rock stars and supermodels, the Golden Bowl series seems to have shifted focus and tells a story about ordinary people doing extraordinary things. A Ring and a Prayer is more overtly religious than Maeve Christopher's other books, but that does not detract from the dramatic episodes and riveting storyline that we have come to know and love. As with her other books, there is something for everyone. Readers encounter good guys and bad guys; a school shooting and a hostage situation; a Ponzi scheme; a rags to riches story; the repercussions of an IRS audit and an extended family whose love and support spans two continents and ensures that a solution is found to any problem that arises.
When this book was released, my expectations were very high because I have read, and enjoyed, every book written by Maeve Christopher. She did not disappoint. This book was so riveting that I could not put it down. Five stars without a doubt!
